Personnel Policy Manual

The Portage County Human Resources Department was organized in July 1996. 

Karen U'Halie was employed as Director in November 2008 and leads the department which is responsible for managing all personnel functions for the Commissioners' Departments including:

• Personnel policy development and administration
  
• Recruitment
  
• The self-insured employee health plan
  
• Workers' compensation
  
• Safety/loss control
  
• The compensation management system.

 The Human Resource Department administers:

• Personnel related assistance to all elected officials and county departments.
  
• Employee labor contract administration.
  
• Employee benefit administration.
  
• Safety and Loss Control.
  
• Employee and Supervisory Training.
